Windows → If it doesn't exist: create vc18-x86_64 in build dir and copy make-solutions.bat from vc17-x86_64 build dir. edit it and change cmake -G "Visual Studio 17 2022" to cmake -G "Visual Studio 18 2026"
→ from a developer command prompt in Visual Studio run make-solutions.bat, enable high_bit_depth, press configure then enable main12, configure & generate and exit
open x265.slnx in vc18-x86_64 build dir, set build to "Release", make sure platform toolset is v145 under ALL_BUILD properties and build then copy x265.exe from vc18-x86_64\Release dir to x265_4.2.exe and run mvx265.bat on it
Linux → Change to linux in build dir and run make-Makefiles.bash then sudo make install then sudo ldconfig
